My Summer "Bucket" List

Notes from Jess: You can find a progress post here and a current compilation of how much of this bucket list I've completed here.

I was talking with my manager a few days ago and he asked me how I did with my classes and if I knew what my final grades were.  He was really happy with how hard I worked and then rubbed it in that I would have less than two weeks before my summer classes started and I was spending that time trying to get as many hours on the clock as I could.

I know he was thinking that I'm crazy for getting a part time job and taking summer classes when these days that are supposed to be full of some sort of freedom and to be doing crazy stuff with my friends.  But let's be real, the craziest things I've done in the last three months has been staying up for hours on end watching copious amounts of Grey's Anatomy  on Netflix when I had class the next morning and dancing around in the dish room at room work with my coworkers.  I have a very limited social life.

Thus, I've decided to come up with a short list of things to classify as my "bucket" list for this summer.

  • eat something new - I've been meaning to get out in Wichita and try new places and try some specialty items.
  • go to a museum that I haven't gone to before - Wichita is full of them yet I've only gone to a select few
  • see three movies at the theatre - honestly, I just need to get out more often
  • walk the two mile loop at the park twice, at least once (that's four miles total) - it's been over a year since I've last done this, it needs to happen again.
  • try five new recipes and share (with the internets and IRL peoples) - I have a stack of recipes I want to try but I've gotten overwhelmed with them.
  • read four books - Jess needs to read more

I feel like the lamest person ever after making this list because I feel like the only thing I'm going to be concerned about is doing well in my summer classes.

Is there anything you're planning on doing this summer, or that you should do?

  1. I definitely want to explore Chicago more this summer. I live in one of the greatest cities in the country and I hardly ever get downtown. That needs to stop!

    1. Exploring Chicago sounds fun! I don't live any where super neat like that, but I can definitely understand the "living near but never getting there" issue. Apparently we have LOADS of museums and art exhibits. Thanks for reading Emmy!

  2. I hear you girl! I'm a nanny and i also go to school part time so my life is either work, my blog or school lol! I have a small group of friends but we're all either super busy so the only time we get to hang out is during the summer probably like 4x! I also live like an hour away from NY and I never really go into the city lol (haha to be honest I am a bit nervous lol) The only fun thing I'll be doing this summer is visiting my dad in Florida lol!! I hope you get through all of your things on your bucket list this summer xx ♥

    1. Hello Felice! Look at you go! I get nervous about going into the city too, but Wichita is NO where as big as NY. Florida sounds lovely though and I hope you have a fantastic time with your dad! Thank you so much for reading. :)
