Notes from Jess: This post was written ahead of time and scheduled to post today due to traveling back to Kansas and the unknown whereabouts of stable wifi. This post is a part of the #BlogEveryDayInJuly challenge.
I don't know what it is with the number five recently but I just really like the number. Today's prompt: five things that make me happy. Now, remember, these are in no specific order.
1. Buying new office supplies.
I most likely
don't need that new pad of sticky notes...or the three things of note cards, or those notebooks. There's just something about buying new office supplies that I just absolutely
love, so soooo much. I'm even happier when there's a good sale! In all honesty, I have enough notebook paper to last me through the rest of college and grad school.

This is Draco from a few weeks ago (the time stamp is
really off). He prefers cuddles over photos any day. |
2. My furbabies. I love my three dogs so much. I mean, I love dogs in general (I got totally distracted yesterday at the gas station because I saw a dog in the vehicle next to us) but my dogs are something special, and yes I know nearly every dog owner says the same thing about their own dog(s). My furbabies are always there for me and never judge what I do or say as long as I give them lots of Scooby snacks, cuddles the occasional car ride. Unconditional love.
3. Listening to country music in the car/truck. My parents brought me up listening to the classic country and the outlaw eras. My love and appreciation for music, especially for country music has been in the making for years. One of my favorite things to do is to just go on a drive and listen to country music. There's not enough money to buy all the music I want to own or to go to all the concerts that come any where near Wichita. There's even certain artists that I turn to listen to when I'm in different moods to make me happy or to mellow me out.
4. Baking! Just a few months ago I realized how much I love baking and for about three to four months I was baking something at least every other day. It's been a while since I baked because I'm struggling with finding the balance in my diet with my prediabetes and baking just seems to be too much of a temptation yet. I do know that when I do get back into baking, I will be doing it mostly to share with other people instead of keeping it around the house (the three of us are diabetic). Actually, now that I'm talking about it I wish I was already at home so I could break out my baking pans and get to work!

Memorial Day 2013 before the annual ceremony the local
American Legion post holds for veterans, their families
and the community. This is one of several events I'm involved
in throughout the year. |
5. Knowing I make a difference. I've been a member of a non-profit organization, the American Legion Auxiliary, literally since I was born. My papers were signed by my parents and sent in on the day I was born. I've grown up in the organization and though I've had some ups and downs where I've separated myself from the work of the organization, I am proud of all that I've done, currently doing and planning on doing in the coming months. I used to not understand the impact I was having within my community through my unit until this last year when I was put into office as unit historian. I attended a district convention and was able to see things from an outside point of view. That alone jumped started me to do more and focus more on the things that I believe in, advocating and aiding veterans' and their families.
I really like these lists! Maybe I should add point number six and put lists on there!
What are some of the things that make you happy?
